Direct TV Satellite

DIRECTV, which is Direct TV Satellite television, is available just about everywhere and that isn't an exaggeration. It's available in your house, in your business and it's been made available to restaurants, hotels, hospitals, dorms (which probably thrills parents with kids in college) and even on airplanes. That's right, Direct TV Airborne is Direct TV made possible with the cooperation of a company called Connexion by Boeing.

So what is it and where did it come from? DIRECTTV is satellite dish television that made it's debut in about 1994. According to Wikipedia, as of June 30, 2007 there were 16.32 million Direct TV subscribers. That's a lot! And if that's not enough to show you that Direct TV is a popular service industry statistics says, "the Direct TV system became one of the fastest selling consumer electronics products ever to enter the market-faster than color TV's, CD players and VCR's."

DIRECTTV supports over 250 channels. Among those channels are local channels. Not all satellite television providers provide the local channels as part of their programming. In addition to the regular channel lineup, some channels are available at an extra cost. These are: NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings, NY Yankee Games, NBA League Pass and NFL Sunday Ticket (which gives access to almost every NFL game). Most of the sports channels are now available in HDTV and some of the aforementioned extra cost channels also come as part of a Sports Package, which is available as an incentive to entice cable subscribers to switch over to the Direct TV service.

Another popular feature of Direct TV satellite television service is the DVR service they offer. You can get DIRECTV DVR services at far less than you would pay if you were to sign up for DIRECTV DVR as a separate service. And seriously, who can live without a DVR anymore? Or, maybe a more important question is: who wants to live without a DVR anymore period? Another incentive to switch to DirecTV is the great deals they offer to new customers. The deals change all the time, but what is pretty consistent is their complete lack of activation fees and their basic package which starts at $36.99 per month.

But really, all of this information is all fine and good, but what is really the best feature of Direct TV is their commercial campaign. Since 2006, the advertising team at Direct TV has taken very popular actors to re-personify their most famous characters who just happen to be plugging Direct TV. These actors are filmed in front of a blue screen and then are digitally added to original film footage and turned into a television commercial for Direct TV. What better incentive to sign up for a service than having Captain James T. Kirk telling you about how you can watch him whenever you want, if you sign up for the Direct TV Satellite system?
