Satellite Television

Satellite television has become the nation's number one source for providing something to watch on your TV. For years we were stuck with rabbit ears, and then along came cable TV in the 80's. Cable was better, but along with it came bad customer service, price gouging and outages galore. Later, satellite TV came on the scene with the big giant dishes, but they were too big and bulky.

Now, a few years later, you can get a small 18 inch satellite dish that receives over 250 channels. They just happen to be crystal clear digital channels too. Cable will sell you what they call digital, but they bundle digital and analog all together and call it digital cable.

Cable TV has made claims over the years that satellite TV service goes out during bad weather. The only problem with that is that cable also uses satellite to bring you the signal in your house. If you don't believe it, just drive past your local cable company and you will see several gigantic satellites out there. You didn't think they had one giant cable link to all the cities. If that were the case, you would be able to get cable in rural areas.

Satellite television providers have covered all the bases. You can get satellite no matter where you live, as long as you have access to a southern sky. The satellite installers will use every tactic they can, to make sure you can get access to the signal. So, not many people are left out in the cold.

Now, you just have to decide between Dish Network and DirecTV. Each service has their own strengths, but to the average user, they will both look the same. Dish Network has always been the price leader while DirectTV has always held a monopoly on the NFL Sunday Ticket. This is not to say that DISH doesn't have awesome sports programming or that DIRECT TV is too high.

DIRECTV is only about $10 per month more than DISH and with that $10 there are more channels. The sports programming is more than adequate on DishNetwork as well. It's just that there are a few NFL buffs that rely on DIRECTV to get the NFL Sunday Ticket. It all boils down to what channels you want to watch and what provider has those channels for the best price.

You basically need a comparison chart to compare channels and features. So, to make it easy for you, I've put together a Satellite television comparison guide to help you make it easier to choose between DISH and DIRECTV. You will find these easy to use guides in the navigation menu on this site. I hope this will make your search for awesome entertainment easier.
